Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, September 14, 2020: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has confirmed the decisions by the Badminton Korea Association and the Badminton Association of Indonesia to withdraw their teams from the TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2020 in Aarhus, Denmark.

They join Australia, Chinese Taipei and Thailand as non-entrants for the October 3-11 event.

As recently as September 7 the BWF announced that the TOTAL BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2020 would proceed as planned despite the withdrawal of Thailand’s men’s and women’s teams.

Badminton Association of Thailand cited special circumstances related to COVID-19 in addition to injuries to key players in making the decision.

Replacement teams have yet to be announced.

BWF’s highest priority remains the health and safety of all players and personnel participating in upcoming international tournaments.

This includes implementing a bubble system to create a safe badminton ecosystem for all involved.
