Kathmandu, Nepal, September 8, 2020: Nilendra Raj Shrestha, Secretary General of the Nepal Olympic Committee, has been given the all-clear from the coronavirus after testing negative on Monday, September 7.
Shrestha, who had been living in self-isolation after testing positive two weeks ago, underwent another test last week and his report has come out negative.
Shrestha had been staying at Nepal Olympic Committee headquarters in Satdobato.
“The results of the re-test showed there was no sign of infection. Everything is normal,” said a relieved Shrestha. “I will now return to my residence.”
Four other employees of the Nepal Olympic Committee who also tested positive last month have also been cleared of coronavirus after testing negative.
Shrestha urged all Nepalis to fight against the coronavirus by strictly adhering to regulations laid down by the World Health Organisation and the Government of Nepal.
Meanwhile, the Nepal NOC has decided to insure all athletes and coaches in the Olympic preparation programme, NOC board members and NOC staff against coronavirus. The NOC headquarters at Satdobato has been closed indefinitely following the outbreak.
The Chairman of the Nepal NOC Medical Commission, Dr. Saroj Krishna Shrestha, has also been asked to prepare a new safety protocol for NOC staff when the office reopens after the lockdown.
