SEA Games star breaks 33-year-old national record

Manila, Philippines, August 31, 2020: The Philippine Sports Commission of the national government has congratulated star sprinter Kristina Knott on breaking a long-standing national record in the women’s 100-metre dash.

Running in the Drake University Blue Oval Showcase in Iowa, United States, over the weekend, the Filipino-American clocked 11.27 seconds in winning the silver medal in the 100 metres.

With this feat, Knott has eclipsed sports legend Lydia de Vega’s 33-year-old national record of 11.28 seconds set at the 1987 SEA Games in Jakarta.

This was confirmed by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association in their social media posts on Sunday.

Knott also holds the 200-metre national record of 23.01 seconds from the 30th SEA Games last December.
