Pokhara, Kathmandu, August 30, 2020: Nepal Olympic Committee Secretary General Nilendra Raj Shrestha has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Two employees of the Nepal Olympic Committee were confirmed as having contacted the coronavirus earlier this month and, following contact tracing and subsequent testing, NOC Secretary General Shrestha was also found to be positive.

“We tested for the coronavirus after it was confirmed there were cases in the office. I have also tested positive but my health condition is normal. I urge everyone to be vigilant and not to panic even if they are infected,” Shrestha was quoted by Pokhara Sports.

“I have been safe in self-isolation since testing positive and under regular supervision by a doctor,” Shrestha added.

The first two employees of the Nepal Olympic Committee were found to be COVID-19 positive on August 13. As soon as this was confirmed, tests were carried out on the rest of the NOC staff numbering 20 on August 19.
