Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 25, 2020: Around 150 weightlifters from 32 countries will participate in the inaugural Online International Weightlifting Cup dedicated to the Independence Day of Uzbekistan later this week.
On the eve of the 29th anniversary of Independence Day of Uzbekistan, the first online international weightlifting tournament will be held from August 28-30 on a Zoom platform.
Slated to take part in the event are Olympic and world champions like Kazakhstan’s Zulfiya Chinshanlo, Luis Mosquera of Colombia and China’s Li Wenwen.
“It should be noted that the matches on Zoom platform will be broadcast live on the TV channel ‘Sport’. We hope that, on the eve of our greatest and dearest holiday, our weightlifters will once again please our people with victories,” wrote the Uzbekistan National Olympic Committee.
The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Tashkent City administration and the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan are all jointly involved in this ‘Independence Cup’.
