Singapore, August 25, 2020: The Southeast Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SEARADO) promotes its work through various platforms.
These include a personality of the month – the people behind the scenes working tirelessly to promote clean sport.
In their latest Facebook post, SEARADO focuses on Sukardi bin Kaderi of the Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee:
Sukardi’s first experience in anti-doping was when he was nominated to attend an education symposium in 2012 in Shanghai, China.
He said: “I met representatives from countries across Asia who had anti-doping education programmes in place which triggered me to do the same for Brunei Darussalam.
“Back from the symposium, I volunteered myself with the Brunei Darussalam Anti-Doping Committee (BDADC) and provided my expertise in education.”
Over the years, Sukardi and his team have been instrumental in the various education and other initiatives in Brunei.
“The interest from the athletes and officials to know more on anti-doping provides us with the motivation to do more in Anti-Doping Education,” he said.
Initially, with only four volunteers in education, they have grown to 20. All the hard work was rewarded when His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, visited the BDADC Outreach booth and recognised the good work being done.
When asked what gives him fulfilment, he had these three points:
*Brunei Darussalam is recognised in its efforts towards the Anti-Doping Programme
*Brunei Darussalam athletes competing in regional and international events are clean
*Growth of BDADC in anti-doping activities and building the capacity of experts
