Beirut, Lebanon, August 20, 2020: The President of the Lebanon Olympic Committee, Jean Hammam, has provided financial aid of US$7,000 to support judo athlete Nassif Elias as he prepares for the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics next year.
The grant was received by NOC Vice President and President of the Lebanese Judo Federation, Francois Saadeh, in the presence of NOC Secretary General Brigadier General (retd.) Hassan Rustom and a member of the committee, Raymond Sukkar, at the NOC headquarters in Baabda this week.
Judo President Saadeh thanked NOC President Hammam and members of the National Olympic Committee for the support “that helps Elias raise his technical readiness for an ideal participation and an honourable result”.
Hammam stressed the committee’s endeavour to provide support for athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics “with the hope that Elias will meet the aspiration of the Lebanese people”.
