Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, August 18, 2020: Sports is a ‘Way of Life’ was the message posted on the Facebook page of Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee as the country celebrated Sports Day on Sunday, August 16.
Every third Sunday in August, Kazakhstan celebrates Sports Day. The holiday is dedicated to the development of sports and honouring sports achievements of Kazakh athletes.
The Kazakhstan NOC wrote: “In modern society, sport is an integral part of our life. For some, it is a way of maintaining health, while for others it has become a profession. One thing is invariable – for everyone it becomes a way of life.”
Many Kazakhstan athletes took the opportunity to post messages extolling the values of sports and a healthy lifestyle.
Rhythmic gymnast Alina Adilkhanova said: “Sport is my whole life. I devote all my time to it. I can’t imagine myself without it. In rhythmic gymnastics, I acquired posture, endurance and a strong character. Sport is not only physical activity but also upbringing.”
Synchronised swimmers Alexandra Nemich and Ekaterina Nemich said: “Sport is our life, our favourite work, our hobby. It is a way of life for us and we urge everyone to do sports for their own health.”
Rishat Khaibullin, who takes part in sports climbing, said: “My parents instilled in me a love of sports since childhood. I tried many different types and I can say I liked all of them in their own way. Now sports for me is a lifestyle. This is movement, health, new acquaintances, travel.”
