Pakistan Olympic Association plants trees to mark Independence Day

Lahore, Pakistan, August 14, 2020: Following the theme “Pakistan Independence Day Tree Plantation Campaign”, Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association, planted a tree at Pakistan Olympic House.

The POA President and OCA Vice President (South Asia) was joined in the tree-planting ceremony by:

• Mr. Inam Butt (Wrestling), Gold Medalist - ANOC World Beach Games Doha 2019 

• Mr. Shafiq Chishti (Kabaddi), World Champion    

• Mr. Talha Talib (Weightlifting), Bronze Medalist, Commonwealth Games

In a Facebook post, the Pakistan Olympic Association said Lt Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan extended his heartiest felicitations to all the Olympic Family of Pakistan on the auspicious occasion of the Independence Day. 

“As per the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the International Olympic Committee for the cause of environment sustainability, the POA President urged the Olympic Family to make workable ideas a permanent feature of their promotional plans to create a conducive, healthy and pollution-free environment not only for the athletes but to further the campaign to attain a pollution-free Pakistan,” said the POA.

“This will definitely enable us to contribute for the crucial cause of environmental sustainability to build and preserve a green future for Pakistan.”
