Uzbekistan Government throws its weight behind 2025 Asian Youth Games in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan, August 12, 2020: The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution to prepare for the 4th Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2025.

The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan reported that “measures to prepare for the 4th Summer Asian Youth Games in Uzbekistan in 2025” was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the resolution, a Directorate will be established at the Uzbekistan NOC for organising the Games.

The Directorate will be responsible for organising the signing of agreements, contracts, memoranda and letters of guarantee between the Olympic Council of Asia and the Uzbekistan Government, cooperation with the OCA and Asian sports federations.

The Directorate will also develop a masterplan for the preparation of the Asian Youth Games, schedule the programme for the 2025 showpiece, and create a logo for the Games taking into account the national values of the country.

Among other responsibilities, the Directorate will be accountable for preparing sports facilities and other infrastructure in accordance with the requirements of the OCA and international sports federations, protecting broadcasting rights, the opening and closing ceremonies and holding promotional events.

The OCA Executive Board decided last September in Doha, Qatar, that the 4th Asian Youth Games would be held in Tashkent.

The next edition, in November 2021, will be held in the port city of Shantou in Guangdong Province in China.
