Afghanistan NOC opens sports administration seminar

Kabul, Afghanistan, August 11, 2020: The Afghanistan National Olympic Committee reports that the opening ceremony of the National Sports Administration Seminar took place on Monday, August 10 at the NOC HQ in the capital Kabul.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of the NOC and the Department of Physical Education and Sport and was attended by 60 directors, managers and female representatives of national sport federations.

The purpose of the four-day seminar is to increase the capacity of managers and female athletes in sports administration. Fifty per cent of the participants are women.

Dr. Hafizollah Wali Rahimi, General Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sport and elected President of the NOC, said that the hosting of such seminars was important for building up the sports movement across the country. He said that the representatives from different provinces would go on to take part in international competitions.

Robina Jalali, NOC Vice President, President of the Afghanistan Athletics Federation and Member of Parliament for Kabul, said the seminar showed that sports administration was not only focused on Kabul and that the provinces also had strong representation in sports management.
