Tehran, Iran, August 6, 2020: In compliance with health protocols, the 66th meeting of the Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held on August 3 and attended by the NOC President, Dr. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri.
The Executive Board members discussed and exchanged views on the recent events regarding the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and the letters received from the Organising Committee and the International Olympic Committee.
The Director of the National Olympic Academy, Dr. Reza Gharakhanlou, presented a detailed report on the performance of the Academy in recent months regarding the activities in relation to the pre-determined programmes and goals. It was reported that the majority of activities had been implemented and administered.
He also outlined the limitations caused by COVID-19 and the NOA approach in holding online and virtual courses.
Acknowledging the efforts and services of Dr. Gharakhanlou and his colleagues at the Academy, the NOC President expressed satisfaction with the activities carried out during the pandemic.
Following the 66th meeting of the Executive Board, a number of requests from the Olympic sport federations were reviewed and the necessary decisions were made.

*A new state-of-the-art squash complex has opened in the North East of Iran. The Minister of Sport and Youth, Masoud Soltanifar, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Persian Gulf Squash Centre.
The new centre has four squash courts and will serve as the squash academy.
It is the latest move by the Iran Squash Federation to increase participation and playing opportunities in the country as they aim to boost the number of registered players from 7,500 to 10,000 within a year.
The opening of the new centre will help to promote and popularise the game of squash around the country.
