The 19th Southeast Asian Games were held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 11 October to 19 October 1997.
It was opened by President Suharto. The Games featured 36 sports in 490 events.
Officially opened by General Suharto President of Indonesia Ceremony venue Bung Karno Stadium.
